Every school has an emergency management plan that outlines responsibilities, procedures and actions in the event the school and/or its bus routes are affected by floods and severe storms. This may include activating lockdown or evacuation procedures or closure of the school. While not every school is located in a flood prone area, all schools are required to prepare for both external and internal storm and water damage caused by torrential rain, low lying grounds, drainage issues, burst water pipes, etc.
Offsite activities, which include camps, excursions, field trips, and sporting activities, may also be affected by floods and storms. The school will notify parents and guardians directly of any cancellations, rescheduling or recalling of a planned offsite activity.
When catholic schools have been directly affected by floods and storms, school closure and if applicable, alternative arrangements will be reported on the School Closure page. While every effort will be made to provide the latest information, parents are advised to contact the school directly.
