An Employee who is eligible for paid maternity leave or paid adoption leave may choose to take their paid parental leave at the weekly rate of pay for half their ordinary hours of work over double the time. This is considered half pay leave (HPL). If an Employee elects to take HPL, they will receive the same pay entitlements as an Employee who did not elect to observe HPL.
