By law an employer must, so far as is reasonably practicable, provide and maintain for employees of the employer a working environment that is safe and without risks to health.
An OHS Policy is a method of stating how you, your employees, contractors and visitors agree to meet their obligations under health and safety legislation when they are on school property or performing school-related activities. As an employer, you are required by law to provide a 'safe system of work.'
Under 'Resources' there are a number of policy and procedure templates on a variety of OHS topics, which schools can modify to suit their needs and adopt. Template documents will need to be reviewed and adapted to ensure that they are fit for purpose prior to implementation.
